WHAT TO DO WHEN DOWNGRADED FROM VISTA TO XP OR HOW TO MAKE VIDEO DRIVER WORK WITH YOUR HARDWARE
WINDOWS XP driver for RADEON XPRESS 200M
FEW STEPS TO MAKE IT WORK
STEP: 1. download unknown device identifier ( you can take it here : google.com/search?hl=en&q=unknown+device ) scroll down to video chip section like on this screen shot:
#1 - is the section we need to expand
#2 - is the ACTUAL item we need to pay attention to
UNKNOWN DEVICE IDENTIFIER showed that my video was : PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_5A62&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_00
STEP 2:
DOWNLOAD THIS DRIVER(its for older toshiba and different version, but we will make it work 8) :
this driver will not work by default unless you have EXACT hardware that is mentioned in setup information file.
when you will finish downloading execute it, so it will unpack itself to pointed folder, see screen shot below:
default directory that will be created : c:\display and SMBUS.temp, ya can see it in tree pane on the left of my windows explorer and file that we will edit is CX_31952 - SETUP INFO FILE.
Now left click on that file and choose either OPEN or EDIT (depending what text editor you have installed)
Next open unknown device identifier and copy YOUR string, similar or same to what i have underlined, with PCI / VENDOR ID.
next go back to window with EDIT setup info file, FIND and SUBSTITUTE _ALL_ PCI/VEN ID STRINGS related to video card with one you just took from unknown device identifier. SAVE file and exit.
see screen shot(on my screen i have already substituted original with my string and there was only ONE string that i had to substitute, this is bare minimum that you will need to make this driver work, if you wanna go deeperl... you can mess with many other things in this file, for example modify name how this card will be identified in device manager in your windows and so on) anyways scren shot:
after all this will be done we will proceed to final step:
STEP 3:
Choose your video card in device manager,
START->MY COMPUTER PROPERTIES->DEVICE MANAGER-> UN IDENTIFIED VIDEO CARD -> PROPERTIES -> REINSTALL DRIVER->INSTALL FROM A LIST OR SPECIFIC LOCATION->DONT SEARCH I WILL CHOOSE WHAT TO INSTALL -> DISPLAY ADAPTERS->HAVE DISK -> now point at your file that we have just edited, or folder where this file is located, click next, windows will *THINK* a bit and then it will give you the warning if you would want to install this driver anyway -> CHOOSE YES INSTALL ANYWAY ....
NOW YOU SHOULD BE ALL DONE ! change resolution to desired and so on.
HOPE THIS WILL HELP TO MANY WHO IS LURKING ON THE WEB IN SEARCH OF SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM.
вОБЩЕм ситуевина сложилась след образом:
