so all that i wrote i think still accurate – could not install on an mbr disk through the efi and with the consumer preview choices as it was looking for a gpt disk and that seemed to be the controlling factor. . . still fuzzy on this but that is what was happening. the breakthrough came when i downloaded the iso and created an install usb stick. then this efi environment was weird in that one has to put the stick into the unit, and boot in twice! for it to see it
